Sound Devices Wave Agent work flow
« on: July 11, 2022, 12:40:38 PM »
So I recorded a bunch of sets recently on my Mix Pre 6. 4 channels, plus the left and right mix. I haven't done this in a quite a few years. So long ago that my current PC didn't even have Wave Agent on it. I looked at some tutorials but still having some difficulty. Can some one please post a simple work flow for this?

When I open the folder the wav files for the recording date are there and when I open one file in my DAP software, I'm assuming it's the mix file. When I open that same file in Wave Agent it shows 2 X Poly. There should be 4, right? Where's the other two? Tracks 3 and 4. Ran two sets of mics.  :banging head:

Thank you!

Hate to ask a silly question. Are you sure that 3 & 4 were armed and recording?

Yes, they were armed and recording, however I never switched from basic to advanced or custom.

I have a mix pre 6 and use a Mac for everything. If your using a PC I'm not much help. If you're on a Mac you have several options. Audacity, Wavelab, RX9, and so on. That's where you need to start. I can't explain where the missing signals are.

  • If it's too loud, turn it down.

Try opening it in audacity. If you have four channels plus the L/R mix, you should have six mono tracks, which you can then pair to create stereo tracks.
Mics: mk4v/mk41v/mk22 > CMC1L/Nbobs, 4061, MKE2
Preamps: Mixpre-D, Nbox Platinum ABS
Recorders: Mixpre-6 ii, PCM-A10

Audacity is a free download. If anything you can just open the file and separate the stereo pairs then export.
