SP-CMC-8 vs SP-CMC-4
« on: November 15, 2005, 07:32:43 AM »
My CSBs died so I was thinking of buying a pair of Sound Pros CMC-8s or CMC-4s.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with both of these pairs and what the sonic differences were.  I know the 8s are smaller.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Totally.  I'm looking at either the SP-CMC-4 or SP-CMC-8 now.  Thanks.

love my cmc-8's. Wish they had a better bass response though. Mainly got these cards to keep the crowd noise at a minimum from my sides and behind me. The SoundProfessionals repaired them once free when it appeared some of the wiring was becoming exposed at the base of one of the mics. I've always had good customer expierences with them. The cmc-8's seem to handle HPL's well also.

I use the mics in the modded baseball cap that SP also sells. Very convenient when there is no good place to put a mic stand. However, I miss the bass response I get when I use my Rode NT4.

I have the CMC-4's and have been very happy with them.  Though I've had no personal experience with the CMC-8's, I've heard people on this board say that the 4's have a little better tonal quality.  And the 4's are still quite small.  Bass response in the 4's is not a problem.  SPL handling is not a problem as long as you are using phantom power--they will brickwall quite easily with battery box power.
