DAT tape repair/splice needed

Anyone know how to do this? I have a friend who had a master tape split in half that he needs repaired. if anyone can help, please reach out and i can put you 2 in touch. He's located in Michigan.  thanks in advance.

I once fixed a master   with a regular  old school  razor, analog tape repair kit.  there was a small area with a glitch but as long as you make the splice clean and as small aspossible should be fine.  I would say playback / transfer once and then archive the tape.

Problem solved. I used my old cassette tape splicing kit from Radio Shack that I got some years ago. It is a little wider than 4mm.
I am including a picture to hopefully inspire some others to fix a few.

What I found was that in cases like these with a break in the middle it is a good idea to load both parts into separate DAT shells. That way you can keep the splice from hitting the heads.
This picture was before that when I attempted to splice it in the middle.

The orang-ish pieces of wood in the picture are Stim-U-Dent plaque removers. They are a soft wood that I can push down into the channel to lock the tape in place.
