Schoeps capsule mounting
« on: March 04, 2009, 02:19:38 PM »
I just got my mitts on some actives for my mics.  I've previously owned a pair of Neumanns, and I was quite happy with the ORTF bar that was included in the SKM140 kit.  I did discover that the Kwon bar seemed to sound better when running the actives, but that little ORTF bar sure was handy for, uh, discreet mounting purposes.

Any thoughts on which mount to buy that would accommodate these purposes?  Have other people found that the Kwon bars sound better?  I do have the little Schoeps shockmounts for use with the full microphones.  If there are specifics that cannot be accommodated on the board, send a message off list.

Thanks!

Josh

If you have an A-20 shockmount, just use a Kwon bar to mount
a pair of actives and you have the most compact, easy to use
setup for your schoeps.

I have made a few different mounts for specifically for the Schoeps line. They are in stock and ready to ship.

Thanks everyone!

So far my options are two used DIN and DINa Kwon bars - what are the differences between DIN and DINa?
The Schoeps MSTC 64g 110 degree ORTF
A vark bar
and NOLA's mounts

Am I missing any?  Pros, cons of each?  I'm unsure what the difference between DIN and DINa is, and searching found too many items, and would like to look into a vark bar.

din-a = 17cm @ 90º and is intended for hypercard's
din = 20cm @ 90º and is intended for cardioids

both settings work well with either type of mic.

My perception was that the 20cm DIN really added a nice sense of spaciousness to mylast pair of Neumanns...
