Title: ISO help with coax mod on SBM-1.
Post by: Kindguy on May 22, 2008, 07:07:01 PM
Can anyone here change the 7 pin cable out on my sbm-1 & make it coax>?

Pretty sure I have everything needed to do it (parts) I'll send a roll of solder, whatever. I just can't do things like this. I'm all thumbs.

Thanks
Jeff

Do you have access to an Oade passive cable? You can use that to provide a coax out without cracking the case. While I know Doug, and a few others, have taken the 7 pin dongle off SBMs and soldered a female coax connector in it's place without issues, I always believe in looking for a solution that does not involve non-reversible modifications that could have problems if not done correctly.

Oade 7 pin to coax cables are frequently sold on the YS, so you should try to grab one of them before having someone hack into the case and modifiying it for coax out, IMO.

If you're interested in this type of route, I think I might have a 7pin>male RCA out coax cable I built lying around.  The 7pin side would fit into the female 7pin port on the back of the SBM1.

LMK if you're interested and I can dig around and send it out to you.
