So...what do you guys think about this one. Would this work?
If I were to take this unit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41784&item=3778132345&rd=1
Run xlr to 1/4 adapters on my mic cables...run them to the 1/4" analog ins......run an spdif coax off the coax out to a unit like this:
http://www.sysconcept.ca/product_info.php?products_id=164
Then run optical out to jb3.
48vpp isn't an issue since I'm running unmoded Nak cm300's. I could run a 9v battery box to the units power input.
So, what am I missing here? I'm sure there's some reason this wouldn't work....especially considering it's some shit I came up with. Where am I going wrong?

Hmmm....just noticed there's no level control...no preamp...
what if I ran this in front of it...

after all that $$$ you could just get a UA-5 off ebay for around $200 and try to have someone DIY mod it for ya.
I doubt that Coax>Optical box is Bit perfect :-\
You would have everything in one box , And sound much better aswell

Yeah...just entertaining ideas. Always fun to look at new possible ways of doing stuff.

Its a standalone Analog to Digital converter...Line Level in > SPDIF out.
Nice meters. No need for a level control...it is made to be driven by a mixer.
I have the 24 bit model...I think it sounds great.

That, or any small mixer/preamp would be a nice match in front of the Flying Calf...
You will still need a coax>optical converter after the flying calf...I use the CO2 with no problems other than the critics here...the HOSA is also recommened by many here...

::)
have you ever bothered to test it yourself? If all of the tests and experiences of those on here STILL haven't convinced you that the Co2 is a POS I guess a test on your own would be the only way...

I've recorded a good bit with it - it's never done anything except what it's supposed to do
....what exaclty should I be worried about?
