In some respects, storing in the vials isn't safer...just depends on how you store your stuff.  The vials are loose and easer to misplace and/or fall out than if you leave your capsules connected.  It happened to me once I can't remember where or how...I just remember the five or six skipped heartbeats I experienced when I for some lucky reason looked on the ground and saw the vial with one of my capsules.  I think it slipped out of a snorkel that had accidently opened or something like that.  Ever since then, I leave my capsules attached until I get home.

Great point.  This is a main reason I decided to carry them attached to the cables also, along with the convenience.  The windscreens, especially the B5Ds which have a plastic basket inside, have more padding on them than those plastic vials do.

I have interior small pockets where I store my capsules in the veils where they will not move or shift.

Again to each his own.
