Title: Mic comparison - MBHO KA300 and CA11
Post by: goodcooker on October 03, 2021, 01:43:21 PM
Haven't seen one of these in a while and it's healthy to remind the gear slut in me that I don't have to spend a ton of money to get good results.

Here's a comparison track with MBHO KA300 subcardioid capsules/remote capsule adapters/Naiant PFA straight into the Tascam dr701d preamps with P48 and Church Audio CA11 cardioids into the Tascam mini mic input with plug in power.
The only variable was that the HOs were in a pair of Movo ballistic nylon windscreen and the CAs were gaff taped to the top of the screens. In my experience the screens reduce the high end a little but not much.
Files were mixed in Wavelab and only chopped and gain matched. First 20 seconds is one pair, the next 20 seconds the other and so on...until around 1:45 mark there is one minute of each until the end.

I was pretty surprised by the results. https://soundcloud.com/roger-cox-7/billystringscomp?si=f249a742b7f24a1e9acf347ac2ff87cb
