Title: Bad KC 5 Cable Help
Post by: SonicSound on July 24, 2005, 06:14:14 PM
Has anyone had a KC 5 cable go bad?  I was getting all set up last night to record moe and ABB, when I noticed that there was about a 30db difference between my left and right channel.  I instantly thought it was the tubes (m222/nt222), but when I got home and tested it turn out to be one of the active cables.  I hope that Schoeps will fix the problem with little or no charge.  Any experience would be appreciated.

I recently had my cmc6/mk4 mics cleaned by Schoieps. The shipping was about $70 for the two mics - and the work was about $175. They cleaned and tested the cmc6's, cleaned, replaced small parts, tested, and adjusted the mk4 capsules. OI know yopu only need an active fixed but that may give you some idea of the price range. I had my work done through Redding Audio - excellent people. If you go that route the # is (203) 270-1808. Ask for Scott Bolan. Takes about five weeks. Best of luck!
