Thought I'd throw this out there that at a show a couple of weeks ago my AD2K+ was losing power from the Naztech battery, making and losing continuity at the slightest bumping of my bag.  Turns out that the connector on the custom cable that I was using has a short barrel, so it didn't slide down as far onto the battery connector as the stock cable connector.  Apparently the connectors aren't all equal...some have longer barrels than others.

However, it was a simple fix in that the battery cover is plastic and that kept the shorter barrel from recessing down as far onto the battery connector as it could have.  All I did was took an exacto knife and cut the plastic hole in the cover so that the hole was larger in diameter.  This allows the shorter barrel connector to slide down alot farther onto the battery connector.  Problem solved!

FWIW, I have both the Black Naztech and the generic silver model battery and they're the same design except for the color, so I did this to both batteries.

haven't done a full to dead yet but I suppose I could tonight just by running it the rest of the way out cause I recorded a 3 1/2 hour moe show last night and it still has two bars showing.

This would be most helpful! I need to find a reason to ditch the tekkeon.

Hmm.  On second thought, not sure I can do one tonight.  I forgot to take my gear bag out of the trunk of the car and it's about 30 degrees out today.  Not as cold as it has been though.  Maybe I'll let everything warm up for a few hours and then run the battery dead to see what I get, then do another run test over the weekend.

BTW, has anyone else noticed that the AD2K+ powers up fine at 9V?  I haven't run mine on 9V, but for the short time it was on the lower voltage everything seemed to be fine.

I ran mine last night at Umphrey's in Minne for 4+ hours with my V3 and Microtrack (2496 not the more evil MT2) and at the end of the night it still had 3 of 4 bars available.

I just tried powering mine up at 9v, 10v, and 11v with the tekkeon. It dies at 9v, the low power light is on at 10v, and it runs w/o the low power light at 11v.

Thanks zach. Ill check the voltage from my battery at the 9v setting.  These naztech batteries don't have any settings between 9 and 12v.

We should probably start a new thread to discuss AD2K+ runtimes, but just for reference I've now done two 'full-to-dead' tests using the Battery Geeks 10-14-115 and found that it will power the AD2K+ for 13.5 hours!!! The low-batt light on the ad2k goes on after about 10 hours, but may be ignored since it's calibrated for SLA batteries. I started the test at noon yesterday and empty light on the battery did not come until 1:30 AM (in fact I was pleading with it to come on so I could go to bed... hah!).

When I compare this to the Tekkeon runtimes, something is seriously amiss. Tekkeon rates a single battery at 58Wh and with the extender battery, it should be well over 100 Wh total capacity. The battery geeks battery is rated at 100 Wh on the dot. However, actual testing would seem to indicate that a dual tekkeon can only power the AD2k+ for about 7-8. Bottom line is that the tekkeon has gotta go and that I'll be buying another battery geeks batt.

Hi and Lo
Is this the battery I want for my ad2k+(http://www.thebatterygeeks.com/Portable-DVD-Player-Battery-p/10-14-115.htm)?  Sounds better than the Tekkeon.  I want to buy a battery asap, looks nice.

Yes! This battery is terrific and should give you 12+ hours of runtime.

For what it's worth, for the same price you can buy the Bixnet battery that Ted linked to earlier which has 165WHr, or about 50Whr additional capacity.  I'm sure they're both great batts, but I think I'd go for the larger capacity since the AD2K is a hog.

Acidjack has that battery, I believe, and while it definitely has more capacity it is enormous!!! As in... the only way to fit it in the gear back is basically laid flat on the bottom. 10.6 inches long vs 6.5, if I'm looking at the right battery on their site.

Well... I've only seen Acidjack run this battery once at an all day festival and it's sat at home ever since. I can't recall a day where I've ever needed more than 12+ hours of continual runtime, so I'd say this is a situation where smaller footprint is better.

Oh man.  I could throw down some trash talk about that statement...you know woman genitals and all that...but I'll give you kudos for pushing the 12 hour barrier.   ;D ;D

You should tape with us at All Good or moedown or rootwire!  They all have two side-by-side stages and the music never stops.  I've had days at All Good where I'm rolling for the first act at 10am and tear down at 4:30 or 5am for the final late night...I need 19 hour batteries with quick recharge!!!  :)

Looking at these.  The 15000 is 75-90$, can't find the 18000.  Why are these cheaper than others?  Seem to have enough power for what I need.

can you run a 6v V3 with the naztech?  looks like 9v is the lowest setting, but they may not be an issue...  i've used tekeon until now, had one fail, have two more still going strong but i know the days are numbered...

I would say yes.  I have run my 6v v3 off 9v DVD batteries for years.
