How to detect errors in newly minted DVD's?
« on: March 03, 2007, 03:03:44 PM »
Half of the DVD-A's I burn with Mitsui Gold 8x Archival Grade DVD-R are coasters. I find it difficult to believe it's the media; I think it's programs deciding to try to update themselves while I burn (I use DiscWelder bronze and my new computer is up to snuff, very fast.) Is there any way to put all other processes on the computer on hold while I burn?

Also, is there a program that enables me to detect clicks and horrible digital noises on a newly burned DVD without having to listen to all of it?

thanks, Noam

when my discs start becoming coasters, it is usually my burner (I primarily use TY's).  Replace with a new burner and the problem is usually solved.  Of course, YMMV.  I'm no expert, just my personal experience.

When I started getting coasters it was the power supply.
