Microphone Madness seems to be a fairly reputable company so it would probably be good.  I've only used Sound Professionals and soon will have a Church Audio preamp.  I have MM's omni and cardioid lapel mics and they are very good quality.  I wouldn't have a problem trying their preamp if I had some disposable income.

First of all, thanks for your post ;). Yes, that's how I feel about MM as well. I'm a HLSC-1, a wonderfull mic, so the preamp should be good. I only think strange the fact that I don't read/hear much about this preamp.
Well, I guess I'll have to wait

Microphone Madness is a company that was formed by a former Sound Professionals employee.    $250 is a great deal for a pair of MKE40's or MKE2's, but that is about all I can say for MM.  The SP-PREAMP was designed by Dick Campbell, I doubt the MM preamp is as good of a design.  But who knows....

The Church 9100 preamp is sonically fantastic, on par with many name brand preamps...
my $0.02

Thanks, Javier ;). I'm considering the 9100 as well. I've only heard great things about it.

I have the 9100>HLSC-1 the results are excellent.  This MM pre gives +40 dB  :o
Also for stealth applications, I don't think I want two knobs...one is hard enough to mess with.

I have the SP-PREAMPS-3 and it give up to +50dB of very clean gain.

You can order the MM-preamp with just 1 gain-knob(for both channels) as I did about 2 years ago.
It´s smaller than the Church 9100 preamp and comes with a belt-clip but has no bass-roll-off built in.

Great for stealthing although I hardly ever used it.
;)

Thanks, my friend ;)
How would you compare both units (sound quality)?

From my point of view comparing these 2 preamps wouldn´t be fair as I used both of them only once at different places with different mics etc.

Hi
Would you consider selling your MM pre-amp if you're not using it much?
I'm interested! Please contact me geoanth (at) gmail.com

Hi there,

Well, I'm not considering that because I don't have a MM-preamp  ;D.
Just joking. I was considering this purchase months ago, but I got a Church preamp instead.
But I've heard very good things about this preamp.

Take care, friend  ;)

Hi and thanks for your fast reply.
Guess you can't go wrong with andy Church Audio equipment

I'm looking for a MM pre-amp or a Church 9100 with 1/8 miniplugs. Hoping to find some used equipment!  :D

Just bought a MM-Pre off someone in the yard sale.  Curious what anyone who has experience with the unit thinks about it and any trouble that they've had.  Also curious about the colorization.  Any input would be great.  As somone stated earlier, does seem strange that there are no other posts on the device.

What do you think of the MM preamp?  I also have, but haven't used it.  I have the mm-hlsd-1, with the Sony pcm-m10.  Where do you set the preamp levels and recorder levels for loud concerts?  Or should I just use the battery module? thanks for any input..

Very good, thankyou for the reply. I just got the pcm-m10.  I had the mz-m200 MD, and had great sound with: hlsc-1, mm baterry module, into line-in.  I will be using the pcm-m10 for the first time this week.  I would like to figure out the mm preamp, or just sell the thing if I won't be using it.  I don't record quiet shows much.  So i will try your advice to go mic in. thanx.

make sure you use the low sensitivity setting, and also my hlsc's have a 4.7k mod in them which allows for high spl shows, even though the site states 138spl, they need a little help to achieve that

Thanks again.  I'll have to try these all out, and see how they sound.  Probably start off with mm-hlsc-1, bb, into line-in on the pcm=m10 at24/48.  Basically trying find out what to do with my mm-preamp, and how to use it.  I guess I had tried it twice, but totally distorted the recording, going line-in. cool.
