Title: Setting up Plex
Post by: rigpimp on August 19, 2018, 01:22:20 PM
I had Plex set up at some point on my server box and did not like the intermittent connections during the trial period.

I decided to give it another shot.  I began the valiant effort to begin tagging all of the stuff in my FLAC music folder to get some of this crap organized.

What I am seeing is a MAJOR lag as this thing is indexing my files.  I can barely access it via the web app or from my phone app inside my intranet.  Is this normal?

Mind you that this is trying to index hundreds of thousands of music files.

I guess I just needed a little bit of extra patience...

For that much, yes. You'll need to give it time to do it's thing and then it should be ok. I just have movies on mine and it took a while to do the initial indexing of 950GB+. I couldn't imagine trying to do another TB or so of audio on top of that, especially since a lot of tapers still don't tag their own shows before they post.

In the end this will be about 12TB of music and movies.  I'll exhibit some patience.  I do not recall it taking this long last time but I am actually tagging others untagged files now and will follow some of Plex's naming protocols for movie files.
