Hey everyone,
I just got a Tascam DA-30 MKII to convert a ton of tapes sitting around. I'm in need of an interface w/a usb to make the straight digital conversion. I was looking at the Tascam US 144MKII and/or Tascam US366, but wanted to see if I could get a few other ideas from the good folks in here.
What does everyone else use, and would the Tascam products above be a good investment? Looking at about 400 tapes, with the possibility of more coming in.
Thanks.

what recorder do you use? if it has coax go that route. easier (doesn't tie up the pc etc).

I have exactly the same DAT deck and I've just done the transfer job on my (small) DAT collection.
I've bought and used a Roland UA-700.
I'm happy with it.
I can also use it as a pre for my guitar...

As mentioned earlier, it's easiest to use whatever deck you use for recording shows, assuming it has a digital input. Back when I was transferring DATs to PC HDD via digital soundcard it was frustrating to not be able to use the computer for anything else during the data capture. Oh the benefits of technological advancement.

What's wrong with the Behringer you used on your previous DAT transfers??? Oh nevermind, no SPDIF input...
Are you going to re-transfer those DATs that you did previously via the Behringer???
Thanks,
Terry

Yes, absolutely.

No recorder here. I taped here and there in the early to mid-2000's.
