Title: Printing vinyl from a taper recording
Post by: TaperWill on October 04, 2019, 11:10:25 AM
Anyone here tried getting one of their digital live recordings printed to vinyl? I know it’s not as good as an analog recording but it seems like lotss of vinyl come from digital recordings anyways, and I’m curious if anyone’s ever tried it with their taper recordings and what results they got.

I’m just talking about printing one for myself and not selling it, and of audio I’ve already put in archive or soundcloud. I’ve also taped a lot of my friend’s bands and if it works well transferring to that medium it could make for cool birthday presents and whatnot for them.

Ah.  Unless something has changed, any of the one-off type records with cut grooves will be of very short lifespan compared to a record made on a press from a metal stamper.  ‘Cut’ one-offs were always known to sound worse with each play, wearing out very fast.  That may not matter for your purposes.  There may be some new tech I’ve not kept up with.

+T       might be interesting but costly.

Reminds me of all those super short run Japanese acetates in the late 80's.
