Title: Earthworks SR-71 repairs...
Post by: allan on August 28, 2008, 01:33:57 PM
Anyone ever cracked one of these open? Earthworks won't fix them due to some "new EPA regulations" BS since they were made, Is there anyone else that can fix them? They said it was something in the body messed up. Thanks

you are correct Jesse, as far as I know they are "sealed", but they have to come apart somehow if Earthworks could fix them

The manufacturer will not repair what it has made? What's up with that?

I would guess they converted their whole shop to lead-free to comply with EU (not EPA) regulations.  Still, they should have kept a leaded workshop to deal with repairs, but if all the leaded stuff is out of warranty, they may have opted not to  ???
ROHS?
I work at a custom cable/wire harness facility and we deal with this all the time.
We purged our existing stock because of non-rohs material which is mainly for overseas work.
