Title: shure mics
Post by: alienbobz on September 19, 2003, 02:21:30 AM
I was wondering if anyone has ever used shure microphones. I have a few shows with them and I like there sound. Anyone have any recommendations for them? Let me know what you think of them.

I had a pair of Shure BG 4.1's that the band I was in used for some recording in the practice space....
OK sounding judging from what I remember, and what the only tape I can find sounds like.

Weren't the SM81's supposed to be pretty decent???
You don't see many (if ANY) people using Shure mics.

I went from an Audio Technica AT822 stereo mic to a pair of Shure sm81's and definitely noticed an improvement.  Low end kind of reminded me of my friends Nak cm300's he was running at the time.  I ran them for a few years then moved on to Neumann km140's - again, I noticed an improvement with much sweeter mids and highs.  I think I paid $400 for a used pair with ws81 windscreens.

Thanks for the input. Has anyone hear used the 84s? I have heard a few good shows with them and I just wanted to hear what you guys think. Peace.
