Title: Does changing the .txt file screw-up an upload?
Post by: Jeremy Lykins on November 08, 2008, 06:44:41 PM
I uploaded a show to etree today and I think that there might be a problem with it.  I always have a little bit of trouble when first uploading a show to etree, but this one's been going for over 90 minutes and it's still not showing up on the tracker.  When I go to the "My Page" page it's there, but it shows two leeches and no seeders.  I think that I might have changed the .txt file after creating the .torrent file, so I deleted what I changed but it doesn't look like it's done any good.  Or it could be that I changed it before I created the .torrent file, so now it's wrong.

tl;dr  Does changing a .txt file screw-up your upload?

If you change any of the files in the torrent after you've created the torrent file & uploaded it, it will not run correctly. You either have to use the original files or create a new torrent file using the altered files and upload that.

I'm not really sure how the .txt file read to begin with, so it sounds like it would be best if I create a new torrent file.  When I do that, what happens to the leecher who is already downloading the show?  He's about 65% done right now.

As long as they point the new torrent to the same place as the original one, they will just pick up where they left off.
