Mic cable Q
« on: November 21, 2003, 08:12:49 PM »
Just got  a Canare star quad mic cable from marketek and 90 ends but i'm unsure as to where to solder the ends to. There are 4 wires in each and how do i match them up? I looked in archives but still confused help. How do I know that the one end will match the other, the four cables are: two blue and two white. Thanks

Sterling
PS- Just ordered my UA5 toaday...should be rockin' for Ph in NY and PA!

you need to solder the two blue cables together and do the same for the white cables.  i've always soldered the blue cables to pin 2 and the white cables to pin 3 since it was easiest to remember because blue and two rhyme.  you can do the opposite if you want, you just need to be consistant.  the shield should be soldered to pin 1.  after you're done it's always a good idea to check the continuity to make sure you wired the pins correctly.  it's really easy to do once you get some practice - also an extra set of hands definately makes the job easier.
