I am wondering how to power a UA5 in the field.
I have poked around some threads about this but still
need a little help.. Can someone guide me thru this with pics or links to where I can purchase these parts?
I figured I need a adaptacable with 2 adaptaplug ends (M and B) ?
The problem is the negative tip thing the jb3 has? What do I do about this?
One end of the adaptacable goes to the jb3 and 1 end to a dvd battery. I am not sure what would be the best battery to buy, volts etc.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks man
I think I can handle that.

there is also a thread around here somewhere about an ebay seller who has new wallyworld bats that are ~$15 shipped
it's been a few weeks since I saw it so the seller may no longer have any in stock but do a search and you may get lucky
-
that ebay seller is still around with a bunch left. cheapest option out there

Try this link for the battery I think this is the one

Thanks for the links. That ebay seller wants 31$ to ship to Canada but it looks like my only option.
My next issue is finding the female to female adapta plug socket cable. I ordered the tips (M and B) from
Source(Canada's Radio Shack) but they dont sell the cable. Radio shack in the US doesnt ship to Canada.
Anyone wanna sell one on ebay? or post a link to somewhere else to buy this cable.
Thanks again

I hack off cig adapter plugs and use the female end for battery and the male end for cable and just splice w/ shrink tube. Also this allows you to have a built in fuse in line for your equipment.

I forgot to add you could get a Universal multi-voltage power adapter for laptops and media devices such as MP3/MP4 players, cellphones, digital cameras and portable DVD players and use the adapt plug from the kit and one of the plug ends should work. I would imagine in Canada you could find one at a electronics store or maybe even a drug store. ;)

Every one of those batteries should come with a cable that fits the battery and has an adaptaplug socket on the other end. You really only need the M tip and the cable that came with the battery. If your battery shows up without a cable let me know via PM and I can send you one of the extras I have.

Thanks again. I ordered 2 batteries from dude on ebay. Just 1 more question.. What cable goes between the jb3 and the ua5. The digital in on the jb3 looks to be a miniplug. Is there a digital cable with that end?

And just a digital coax to digital coax for a ua5 > microtrack 2 correct?
S PDIF is the same as this isnt it? as seen here

I know nothing about the microtrack 2 but if you are looking for a digital coax cable as well hit up monoprice along with your same order..

Ill almost guarantee there is no difference between this cable for $2.88 vs. the $34.99 one you linked to haha.. btw I am in no way affiliated with monoprice I just love their cables and prices.
That extra 31+ dollars is paying for a stamp on the cable that says 'monster'

Spdif to spdif is correct. IF you are looking for high quality cable either try one of the vendors here at TS or maybe this:http://www.zaolla.com/pdf/Zaolla_RetailCatalog_Oct08.pdf (page13)

I just made some DIY cables for these DVD Batts to run my UA-5 and H120(which takes the same 5v power.) they work great!
I would be happy to make some cables quickly for anyone who needs them, free of charge, you pay shipping both ways and provide me with the following supplies for the build.
1. DVD batt cables( the ones that go between the batt and device)
2. UA-5 power cable
3. Sima SUP 2 Universal power supply( for regulating the (9v to 5v for the JB3)
Which can be purchased here: http://www.amazon.com/Sima-SUP-2-Universal-Power-Adapter/dp/B0001YFY1K
PM me if interested

New problem..
I'm not getting any signal to my microtrack 2 via the digital coax in from the digital coax out on the UA 5. I think the USB out is busted on the UA 5, does this matter? I'm not familiar with the UA 5 but I am pretty sure that everything are in the right settings. I just got this UA 5 and I'm not even sure that it works. Any obvious ways of telling?
Thanks a lot for any help.

The cable package says "S/PDIF RCA to RCA Coaxial Cable" . Is this the right cable?

I would think it would need to be S/PDIF to S/PDIF

You'd get better answers if you posted this in a separate thread, in the right subforum. This is about powering options, so the guys who might help you wouldn't find your question.

you should see a red light coming out of the dig-out hole...

I cut the wall power plug and wired the end to the battery cable correctly and the ua5 powered up and worked fine until I shrinktubed it . So I removed the shrinktube and repeated the process,it worked, then I shrinktubed it again and it wont work. Anyone else had this problem? I know its odd.Could it be the glue from the inside of the shrink tube?
Any suggestions appreciated.

Wrap bare wires w/ electric tape so the neutral and hot don't touch and then shrink wrap ;)

Laid off on the heat, got it the third time.Still sot sure what the problem was as I was taping over the bare wires.Hopefully this will work.

You could have heated/melted the insulation and caused short ;)
