Vandersteen 2C - Any experience?
« on: January 29, 2007, 09:08:13 AM »
A guy in raleigh is selling a pair with the stands for $450...curious on any thoughts or experience folks may have had.  I see a bunch of people have 2CE and 2CI, but have not been able to figure out the difference yet...any thoughts?

Thanks in advance...

For the money they can not be beat. They need some room to breathe & they are what I would call a little dark & a little laid back. Similar to Sonus Faber VS. B&W. Quite honestly, they are a great vallue & what many consider to be the entry point of high end, I would agree. The differences between the model numbers are versions of the series. Richard kept improving them along their lifespan, I owned the sigs. Another good thing is when you call you will probably get the owner/designer of the company, I had a great conversation with him one time about my drinking  ;D

That stinks! There are other pairs out there for the same money. If you sit tight I will have either a pair of Triangle Antel's for sale or a pair of B&W CDM1's. I will be trying both pairs in the next two weeks & will be selling one from my office system.

yeah, they always pop up...probably for the best at least for the time being with a new born on the way in less than 2 months...Spent some time listening to some B&W offerings at the local audio store the other day and was really impressed...will have to do some research...

I had never listened to B&W's before last week but since I am gong with a Mcintosh amp I figured I at least needed to hear them. Not bad, a little polite with the gear I heard them with, not as dynamic as the VS's. For my office I am going for a totally different sytem though so I am willing to give these a try. The Triangles are supposed to be a bit more lively & dynamic so those will get a chance too. I will sell whatever I like the least.

I stand corrected although I haven't got a clue on what they sounded like!
