Used and new Vinyl Websites
« on: June 06, 2007, 10:20:22 AM »
Figured maybe we could share some of the websites that we frequent.

For new stuff, I live

www.elusivedisc.com

they arent the cheapest, but good selection

For used stuff, I use

www.shadydog.com
www.vinaledge.com
www.recordfinders.com (thanks Brad!)
www.gemm.com

Anyone have any other online outlets they use?

I usually go with musicirect.com for new stuff online.  Locally I go the The Soundgarden in Syracuse as well.  Not much of a selection but I can usually walk out with a couple albums I want.  They are usually a couple dollars cheaper than sugested retail and I get and extra 5% off with my preferred member card.  I get a lot of new vinyl on ebay too.  There re a couple stores there that I've bought quite a bit of stuff from.  I pick those stores very carefully though based on what they charge for shipping.  I just placed an order with one place that charges 3$ for media mail regardless of how many records you order.  I really don't go for used vinyl that much unless its something I really want.  I know I'm probably missing out on a lot of great titles but I really just don't have the patience to dig through racks of smelly old vinyl hoping to find something I actually want and isn't absolutely trashed.

Oh, and http://www.insound.com/ also has some stuff. Overseas, but shipping isn't too much and everything comes very well packed IME.

www.acousticsounds.com

I met the owner of acousticsounds at the airport when I complimented his t-shirt (an old R&B single on the front with the flipside on the back)...turns out they are located in Salina, KS of all places. I moved to Wichita a year ago and there is *no* vinyl in this town, not even used vinyl. I plan on visiting acousticsounds next month. I better keep a tight grip on my wallet or I could end up in *serious* trouble!

A couple of other good sites:

I've never shopped on their website, but the store is awesome. A little pricey, but I find tons of stuff that I don't find elsewhere, and lot's of albums I forgot even existed!

A great source for rarities, especially old 60's psych albums:
