bean that drive doesn't specify that it doesn't need to be connected to pc/mac either...and it's basically the same thing as the one you link to. just by a different company.
plus, it doesn't function as it is described as doing in standalone mode, when it is connected to the pc...what i mean is, when standalone it should copy files to the drive and show progress on the lcd...it doesn't do that when connected to a pc, because it is acting as a card reader, where you manipulate files in the windows explorer view. that tells me it IS in fact supposed to function as a standalone device, because when connected to a pc it is in usb mode and can only be controlled via windows. i'll call tech support tomorrow from vegas, and see what they say. doubtful i'll get it working though.
