It depends on how loud the source is, and your mic placement relative to the source. I use the CA-11's, and I've had good luck in cranking the 9100 gain (+20 dB), then doing the fine adjusting on the MR-1. For the past couple of shows, I've had to add about +5 dB to +10 dB on the MR-1. If you are recording to 1-bit, I usually try to get it to -6 dB, with transient spikes hopefully not surpassing -3 dB to 0.
I'm getting ready to record some shows this weekend.
My chain will be CA-14 -> CA-9100 -> Korg MR-1.
What's the optimal levels to set the MR-1 to if I'm
going to be able to use the 9100 to control my input levels?
Somewhere I read about -6db would be a good place to start?
thanks,
scot
