That will do it nicely....get two batteries minimum...AND ALWAYS REMOVE IT when you get home...or you will kill the battery...
FYI....I just moved to Tekkeon externals when I ran my FR2LE...got burned by the not so accurate battery meter...any 12v LI-Ion will work

That would work if you want the battery to fit in the compartment. Just be sure to set the proper battery chemistry in the menus to get an accurate readig of how much charge is left.
If you have a different external battery with an output between 6 and 12 volts it should also work as long as you have the correct plug - either a tamiya connector if you hook it up to the connector in the battery compartment or the correct plug for the DC input jack on the side.

Thanks all

Hi,
Would this also work in a FR2? Or?
Thanks,

In an FR2 - no as it will not fit in the battery compartment as RC cells are larger than the AAs the FR2 is designed for. Any 12v external should work for the FR2 as long as you have the correct connector to fit the DC jack on the side. The FR2 will only work on 12v (I believe; I haven't tried powering my FR2 with any other voltage), unlike the 2LE which will work on any voltage from 6-12 (at least my 2LE works on 6, 7.2, 9, 9.6 and 12v).
For my FR2 I use a BatteryGeeks 10-14-88 which was superseded by a 10-14-100 which was replaced by a 10-14-135(I think it was a 135). Unfortunately BatteryGeeks no longer sells this style battery in any capacity. I "think" your best alternative would be a Naztech or Anker. If you already have a Tekkeon that would work for the FR2 also.

Probably wont be using my FR-2LE much more as it's in the YS. But if I were to keep it, I'd prefer the Naztech over the RC batteries, and I've used both.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think that the battery that fits the FR2LE would work but I was hopeful there would be something similar in cost for the FR2. Good thing that I use my FR2 plugged in 99% of the time. I guess if I want portable I might have to look at a FR2LE to go with my Sony.
Thanks,
