i had a buddy come down from up north for a convention, and we caught a couple of shows.  we ran it with the V2 in front, and ran the mics traight into the mini me.  the pre is sub par, and the whole call pots thing is bogus.  i understand the whole calibration thing, but it isnt the same.  i run nuemann KM140s>V2>AD1000 right now, and still sticj=king with this rig, no questions asked.  i did clip my minime order and am # 2 on the list for a V3.  if grace nails the a/d on that we are lookin at mics>V3 from now on.  looking forward to that.  anyone seen the specs on this A/D yet?  opinions?  PEACE

as far as i know there are no dipswitches to change this.  mind you we played with this for 2 days.  apogees a/d is great.  but you just cant crank it like with AD1000.  regardless.  they flailed miserably with the preamp.  i was all about apogee until this thing came out.  ad1000 4-ever.  would like to hear some more input though?  maybe someone else got it dialed in.  PEACE

Already ran it once ( a loner) at alpine with my TLM 170's.  I love it.  The thing has so much damn headroom.  I noticed I was gonna blow my d8's levels wayyy before I was gonna blow the MME.  Mine should be here tomorrow or wednesday.  I'll be testing 24/96 via coax hopefully this weekend.

There is a ton of info on the MiniMe on the Oade Brothers Forum. Doug Oade even offered his opinion. One thread starts at the link below, use the search function to find more. Keep in mind, like the web, you can get a lot of hits to look over. Search the archive as well as the discussion started there. You might even be able to get a tape. While you are there, check out the Lunatec V3.

I also ran this thing once, direct from mk4v>kc5>cmc6>minime.  I didn't use an external preamp, nor did I do any comparisons.  I'm happy with the tapes that were made though.

It'll be interesting to see how the V3 sounds in comparison.  I'm kinda happy my minime isn't here yet so that I can field test both (hopefully) before actually deciding upon which one I want for good :)

One more note.  Just waiting for the comparison tapes to come back.  We ran two sets of 170's one > ad1000 one > mme.  These should be interesting.

Those are the comp tapes I want. Where were you at Jonny? Did you run on same stands etc? My mme will be here in a week or so, I'm starting to get anxious!

later,
Tim

Hey buddy,

I'm in Indiana right now.  Stands were run literally 2 feet away from eachother at the same height.  No way to run 2 sets of 170s on one stand, not at alpine with the slope and whatnot.  Those mics are f*in heavy.  I will have them hopefully by next week.

Good to hear that some folks like the preamp in the mme. I always foudn the preamp in the ad1000 to be sufficient to not bother lugging around all of the extra crap needed to run an extra preamp in front of it. The quality of the mme preamp hs been my number one concern....

Your like me Tim. I think the pre in the ad-1000 is pretty transparent. I also like not having to lug another piece of gear with batteries and cables ;) I can't wait to hear the tapes!
