Title: When to use bass roll off with Church 9100?
Post by: philfernandez on February 01, 2008, 05:24:52 PM
I'm looking for advice regarding this feature on the 9100.  I'm going to be taping moe. up close tomorrow night using the Church 11s.  I'm leaning towards using the omni caps, although I'm open to feedback on that idea as well.  moe. tends to be bassy, but I'm not sure if the roll off is necessary from 12 rows back.  Thanks in advance for any guidance that can be provided...

I never roll off.  Always do it in post.   Remember you can't put back what isn't there......

Have fun.......

I would use the cardiod caps and no roll off.  Those mics can take a pretty high spl.  I recorded a loud show about 8 feet from the pa and it came out great.
