Title: 722 Error Code
Post by: hoyt on August 30, 2006, 11:26:05 AM
I was sitting on a plane yesterday and was going to track out a show I taped earlier in the week.  I was short on HD space on my laptop, so I decided I'd try to move some wav files back onto the 722 to free up space to split tracks.  In the middle of the transfer, I get this message on the 722 screen:

kernel exception
code=1 error=4
value=-755466146 pc=4026664700
threadid=49185

Anyone ever gotten that before?  I cycled the power, and everything appears to be just fine.  I got the files off the 722 onto my laptop to make sure it was backed up.   I haven't tried to copy anything back to the 722 again yet, but maybe that's the issue.

For what it's worth, I just updated the firware from 1.58 to 1.74 and luckily I backed up my data on the device like they suggested, because sure enough, after the update there were wavs missing from the 722.

Thanks,

There has been recent discussions about kernel errors on the Sound Devices forum. I think the developers are very interested in getting as much info about this in order to take every precaution to take care of the problem in future releases. Please do send them an error report.

It seems the developers are right now working on the long awaited 2.0 software release which is expected to have support for external devices.

do you use md5 files when you transfer files from the 722? i know it has absolutely nothing to do with your error, but i was curious if the error affected the actual file at all.

I did not use MD5 files, but when I saw the error, I quit trying to transfer to the 722, and instead moved everything from it that would fit on my laptop just to be sure.  I'll try to reproduce this again tonight when I get home with the same file.

I'll note the error on the sd forum too.  Thanks,
