The only cost you will have is shipping to them, update is free, free ground shipping back to you, turn around is about 2-3 days not including transit.

shoot them an email to get a RMA number and they will provide all the shipping details.

Mine went out last monday.  I'm excited to see how much improved the firewire transfers will be.

not nearly as good as my external FW drive (same internal drive as my 722).  the 722 takes about twice as long to transfer, which is a lot better than the 5 times longer it used to take.

Is this upgrade supposed to speed up the firewire transfer rate in general, because it is one of the few things about the 722 that I consider to be extremely lame.  My R-4 Pro moved data via USB 2.0 at least twice if not faster than the 722 via firewire.  There really is no excuse for the slow transfer rate. Hopefully this may be the answer.  Please let me know.

I think most of the speed improvements come from the V2 software update rather than the actual hardware upgrade.  I have been running 2.03 for some time now.

I can't remember if i got an additional bump after i had my hardware upgraded.

I believe that I have the V 2.0 installed, although not the most recent release.  It is still slow as molasses.  I hope it is the hardware not software.  Thanks.  +T

nwo now, it still beats the PISS out of real-time transfers anyday so I can never bitch too much. I can start to copy files from the 722>PC and can smoke a cig or whatever I feel like burning and came back 5-10 mins later and its done copying. Time is important and all, but I can def deal with the time it takes to copy files. I still remember doing DAT transfers and they suck. I still have about 250 DATS to transfer too :P
