Taping a roast
« on: May 17, 2017, 04:03:31 PM »
A friend of mine is turning 50 and wants to be roasted.
I will hopefully be getting a video camera or two to film it but wanted some advice on mic placement. etc...

Thoughts? Advice? Anyone done this before?

A few years back I taped a roast we did for a buddy. There was a small PA but no out from the mixer. I ran one mic right (card) at the PA speaker and another (Omni) in the middle of the room for hecklers. The mixed the two mono sources in post. Worked out ok. I was using a DA-P1 at the time so only two tracks, if I had the option of using a 4 track recorder that Are so common now, I would have run another room mic since some of the room audio was a little soft.
