Topic: Powerbook is sluggish

My powerbook has been kind of sluggish the last couple of days.  Any suggestions to clean it up?  got about 20 gigs free on a 60gig hd, so that's not it.  Got 1.5 gigs of ram, so that's not it.

try putting the install disc in and letting it fix it up. May not help but who knows. I had a issue a while back on my iBook. Poped that in and it was good as new.

run disk utility > repair permissions.  might not do anything, but you never know

I'm on whatever the current update is.  You know for once I turned off my powebook (rather than letting it go into sleep) and now it is working much more quickly.  I need to do that more often.

Also, I am trying to get norton antivirus uninstalled but it wont let me delete three of the files since they are constantly in use- how do i start up without starting all that junk so i can delete them once and for all.

FWIW, I have yet to run the last update. My coworker did it on his work machine and it blew up his iMail and messed up alot of his settings. It's the first one I'm scared to intsall.

I don't know if you are still having this problem or not but i thought i would throw out an awesome free os x utility.  you need to have admin rights and a tiny bit of know how but the curve is low. 

It is called onyx and does for free what many other applications charge for, but also provides a gui for many of the cool bsd tools and utilities for os x.

i run it about once a month (automate and check everything,) reboot then run hassle free until software or something else changes that.  hope it helps.

to sudo in OSX, dont you have to enable the root account first? (not just the standard admin account)
