Title: Would this battery work to power apogee mini me?

My back really hurts and lugging a couple SLA's for the last couple days certainly contributed.  Another taper described my old school oade batteries as "an environmental hazard".

I'm looking for something small as possible that I won't have to mod other then changing the plug on it.  I don't need extreme power if it lasts 4hrs with 48v power on I would be more then happy.

If you have something better to suggest let me know.  Small is the key!

thanks

That battery should work fine.  Though you don't need a variable voltage battery. I ran my minime on 9volts.  It is unfortunate that the cheap wally world batteries are no longer available (I need a new one).  One of those for $30-$40 would be ideal.

If you buy used, you need to watch out for shelf life issues (lithium degrades even when not being used).  Mine is on its last legs.

Fwiw, your friend's comments are somewhat off base.  Lithiums are wayy more dangerous than SLAs (except to your back!).

Tips/concerns for ebay:

Make sure it is lithium and not nimh!

Some of those batteries have rather limited capacity (2500ma, etc)

How old is it?

Most of the ones on ebay are nimh however I did find this one

I think i'll get it, maybe 2 so I have a backup.

I will be glad to never bring those SLA's on a plane again.  They say flight approved on them but have caused many hassles over the years.  Not to mention my gear bag is about to get smaller and lighter.

thanks for your help.

For the price, I would not buy those lenmar's...they are only ~2500mAh which I don't think would even last you 3hrs.

check this one out: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/480307-REG/Impact_BPD8000_BPD_8000_Universal_Portable_Li_Ion.html

That one is 8000mAh which should last you 8+hrs with the mini-me, and it's roughly the same price as the ebay ones you linked to.

Good find on the BH photo battery.  Get that one!

2500 is Not enough for what we do with a minime, v3, etc.

loose as a goose eh?

I had always used a ratshack adapt-a-plug with no problem.  The tape was a little joke, but always a safe way to go....

I agree, I don't recall mine being loose at all, but any of my gear that does not have an actual locking power plug gets a bit of gaff tape, just to be safe. The way I look at it, if the plug comes out mid recording, it's not really the plugs fault, it's more the lack of doing anything to prevent it from happening.

no but you go buy a Radioshack adaptaplug cable with tips B and M. Will run you around $20. Or have a TSer build you one

Anyone on TS known to do favors for tapers who are not good with tools that can burn you?
