If you are not using the tone knobs, you might consider turning the tone control knob off to take those out of the signal chain, assuming that is what it does..

A properly designed tone circuit is an advantage, especially in matching speakers to a room.
I'm not sure who first complained that they cause distortion, but would like to see the test data and method used.

The statement that the best amplifier is a wire with linear gain ignores psychoacoustics.
Who amazes me most are the ones feeding that to the vinyl afficionados.
RIAA curve interpretations are OK, but defeating room resonance is somehow "bad"?
