i have a broken 7 pin cable
« on: June 12, 2004, 01:39:19 AM »
On my first night taping, i somehow managed to break my 7 pin cable.  the top part of the end that plugs into the dat (the piece that says digital/analog on the top) came off and the little switch fell out and disappeared..  The digital out cable still works, but the digital in doesnt.  The dat doesnt say "no signal" but it doesnt get any levels.

Does anyone here know how to fix this, or would i need to send it somewhere to be fixed.  And would it even be worth trying to fix it cost-wise.  I already bought a new cable because i didnt want to be without one for wakarusa, but if i can get the broken one fixed for a reasonable amount so that i can sell it, that would be great.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can also always send it back to the cable maker to have them fix it and make sure everything in the cable is tiptop.  both major manufacturers are generally happy to fix their cables, esp paul at pro dig.

sounds like the switch flipped to analog

see if you can see if the little plastic slider is down in the "analog" position. if it is you can use a toothpick to move it up to digital.

I did this many times with a 7pin cable, I really doubt that it is "broken", and you can use it like this forever...
