Stealth rig to use my Neumann KM150s with
« on: December 04, 2009, 11:24:40 AM »
Need to find short length xlr mic cables out to mini mic box for stealth use. Any suggestions on such a rig to run my KM150s through? in stealth situations?

The PC term is discreet, and specifics are generally avoided.  I have been chided for such language in the past and have since reformed my evil ways.

Should be fairly easy if you have actives... stick them in a discrete spot.  8)

It depends on how much stuff you're comfortable bringing in, but for a small mic preamp, I'd look at the Naiant littlebox.  More info on naiant.com and also in the Retail section of ts.com and the preamp section. Jon/mshilarious is a member here and is the designer/builder of the littlebox.  Not the absolutely most compact mic preamp you'll find, but close.  Unlike options like the aerco mp2 or EAA psp2, the littlebox is easy to come by and very affordable -- sounds great too.

Pair it with the new Sony M10 recorder or the Edirol R09HR.

BTW, I've never heard about anyone frowning about discussion stealth equipment on ts.com, just stealth techniques.
Mics: Microtech Gefell m20/m21 (nbob/pfa actives), Line Audio CM3, Church CA-11 cards
Preamp:  none <sniff>
Recorders:  Sound Devices MixPre-6, Sony PCM-M10, Zoom H4nPro
