smoke and mics
« on: January 04, 2005, 12:37:02 AM »
My mics reak.  I guess NYE was eveyones last pack or two of ciggarettes.  Should I be worried about this hurting my mics?  Or should I just let them air out?

Just search and found this. Should give you some ideas...

Good question though, I'm wondering the same thing. Sounds like a 'yes', even if your not in a smoking environment. I'm just thinking about the protection factor if the stand would ever get knocked over.

my mics have been in all kinds of crazy smoking situatiuons, ive always had screens on and my mics dont smell one bit, maybe cause i ALWAYS kept them in foam padding, especially the pick and pluck foam in the pelican 1060, maybe the foam absorbs it, cause i cant even smell it in the pelican, and my mics are going on 6 years old :)

smoke is bad for almost all electronics.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

My 9V in the BB was about to die (stupid me left the mics plugged in the whole freakin way up), and my signal when i started was so low I was wondering. I was 10' away from the left stack and I had the JB3 gain @ +12db and I was barely getting a signal, so I knew something was up. Went home that night, put a new 9V in, and everything was cool.

I haven't replaced the 9V since I bought the BB some 8 months ago, so I guess it was time, but it was pretty stupid. Good thing Rusted Root isn't my favorite band/genre of music, and thank god the night sucked anyway. Too many drunks walking around, pissing me off. That's why Alex + Jeff didn't go.

But oh well.
