DAT? / Laptop? / Micro?
« on: November 29, 2005, 03:56:32 PM »
So, I'm putting together a new rig, and I'm trying to go slow and really think this out. ( Of course, the day my mics get here that will probably all change  :D ) I've decided on TL's and I'm leaning heavily towards a mod ua-5.......but I can't make a decision about a recording device. Price is definitely an issue........no more than $500.00. Size is not really an issue as I don't stealth. Quality is of course very important. I like to seed my shows aslo, so easy transfer to my desktop would also be a plus. So, who's got suggestions?

A live concert to me is exciting because of all the electricity that is generated in the crowd and on stage. It's my favorite part of the business, live concerts.

Thanks for the advice. I'm actually leaning that way. At least the reasonable side of me is.

i've had dat, i've recorded to laptop, i have a microtrack now.

the jb3 is reliable, easy to record and interfaces very well with the ua-5.

unless you need to record 24bit, the jb3 is the answer

I'll recommend NOT going the laptop route. Unless ALL of your shows are wide open and without a crowd, you will get tired of it.

i would say the same thing, but the jb3 continues to fuck up on me randomly. i've owned two of the things. both the analog and optical in on the first one went to shit and i couldn't record anything, now the analog in on the 2nd one is starting to mess up and insert static/dropouts in the right channel for no apparent reason.
