To Anyone Who Knows:

What is the Difference b/t the 480b/ck63 & the se300b/ck93 mics. Do you know if they make an active extention cable for the 480b/ck63?  I think they make one for the se300b/ck93, but dont know for sure.  Thanks in Advanced.

Capsule and body, one is electret other is true cardiod condensor.  the 480 sounds better generally.

no not for the 480, but for the 300 series yes, but they are huge pieces of crap.  no strain relief whatsoever.

ive been toying around the idea to get a 300 series body and a fig-8 capsule and run M/s w/ a 480(card-mid) and a 390(fig-8/side)

anyone have any experience w/ the 300 series fig-8 capsule? obviously its not neumann 100 series active fig-8 cap, but the 300 series fig-8 should sound pretty damn good IMO, and a great start to M/S for me

Bean, I bet that'd sound pretty good considering the 39x and 48x's have some sonic similarities.  I've been planning on running MS with a 414 and that nak 1k card as the mid...just haven't had the chance yet.  I could run it w/ both LDs but this way is more lowepro, and well, I think it could produce some real nice results.  I wouldn't mind trying it with a 394 either  :P

bean, i have also bounced this idea around a bit... it sure would be cheaper than getting mbhos or neumanns... i just wasnt sure if i would like the way it would sound... the 460s have all that warmth

I ran a 394 a bunch of times with an AK40 as the mid.  Sounded real nice.  In terms of sound, the ck94 sound is pretty much on par with the other blue line caps.

394 with a 481 would be interesting to try. How do you decode the M/S in post? Do you need plugins for wavelab?
