Hosa Box Cables..
« on: June 02, 2006, 02:38:37 PM »
l dont have my own rig yet, but l have a JB3 and just ordered a Hosa ODL-276A so that l will be able to get optical patches off others.
My question is what sort of cables will l need to pull a patch off of most people?  I have everything going from the Hosa to the JB3, but going the other way out of the Hosa will l just need coaxial??   Will most people be able to support that?
Thanks for any help you can give.
 Cheers,
tim

I'd get a long (10 ft) coax cable and a splitter. Both can easily be found at radioshack.

When I got the hosa box for patching, a coax was all I ever needed. I always kept my 1/8th to 1/8th and my rca>1/8th just in case though.

Good luck keeping the rest of a rig off of your credit card.   ;D

If you are the only person patching, then you don't need a splitter, but if there will be a chain, then you need one. That way you can have more than one person coming out of the digital source.

I think this is what I have:

EDIT: I also have this attached:

So, this may sound like a stoopid question [l'm kinda new to this, as you can imagine], but if there are multiple patches how would the Y-adapter and phono-to-phono work together?

Not sure if this picture would help or not, but this is what I have coming out of my V3 for patchers. With that adapter on, I can have two people plugged into the splitter. I would suggest these parts because they are cheap and not every person running a rig is going to carry the cables and adapters to have people patch out.

Right on.. yea, I went to Radioshack yesterday to get the adapters, but could only get the phono-to-phono.. I'll try to get the Y-adapter somewhere else before I leave for Waka..
Thanks for all your help..
 cheers,
