my jb3 has a mind of it's own
« on: February 05, 2005, 07:47:52 PM »
have no idea what is going on.  I am using firmware 140.  it will not save ANY of my settings.   I'm talking even for 5 or two mins.  I set it up for tabbed.  sometimes that stays but most of the time not. set profile to advanced (does it either way),  set the sleep mode to off,  the screensaver off. idle timer off.  set black light to 60 secs.   NONE of these setting will stay intact.  infact they  change even if I haven't powered the unit off.  I have not clicked reset setting so it should not be doing this.  also the tiem and date are off now as well.  last night I noticed the dates of the show from last weekend were sept 2002.  changed the time and date.  the show from last night is dated right but now it says it's october of 2002.  also when I turn it on almost everytime it says "rebuilding music library".  reformatting or whatever (defraging)  doesn't change anything.  everything was fine untill I put the AKG start up screen on it. could that have caused these issues??  how the helll do I get teh AKG start up screen to go away??

I am using the stealy AKG start up screen and have not experienced these issues.
Maybe try to reload the firmware?
I am not sure what is going on to be honest.

I use that AKG startup as well and have had no issues.  What I would try is to do a full format of the JBS then reinstall the firmware.  That way you are starting with a clean slate. +T for your troubles.

That happened to me 480dork, except my startup screen is Nakamichi, not AKG  ;)

The first time it happened I held the power button in for almost 30 seconds, and it shut down.  Turned it back on, everything was fine.

The second time, I tried the same thing, and nothing worked.  I pushed all the buttons, hooked it up to my USB, everything.  I even tried pushing the reset button, and that didn't even work.

So I took the batteries out, and everything was lost, including a 2 hour show and a copule mp3's of my band.

Sorry about this!  Hopefully I can help a little.

If this was a pc I'd say your CMOS battery is about to die. Does a JB3 have any kind of power on the board itself, not just the batteries that power the unit?

Good point--I think the JB3 does have an internal batt, and that could be his problem.
