Little switch inside Church 9100?
« on: August 29, 2008, 11:13:00 PM »
Just got the unit. What is that switch inside next to the battery? It says on/off. Does that indicate bass roll off switch?

If so, do I just turn the inside switch off if I do not want bass roll off?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I tested the 9100 and it sounds good. Compared to my Sound Professionals battery box, the 9100 seems to give a better bass and fuller sound. That being said, it's not a fair comparison since the battery box was only about $60.

I'm happy with the 9100. But there was a problem in recieving it. When I ordered it, it took almost 2 month for me to recieve it because the Canadian postal service messed up and severely delayed my order. Damn Canadians.

Inspite of all this, I'm glad to get the amp as it arrived today.

When I use the 9100, i set the volume dial at around 11 o'clock position. Is that normal?

11 o'clock-position is said to be unity gain =>neither attenuation nor amplification ;).

I thought volume dial just adjusts the input of the signal to the recorder... no attenuation nor amplication no matter what position it is ???.
I am wrong ???

try at home:
record a song from your homestereo with a simple battery box and afterwards with your preamp in the chain and with the knob at 11 o'clock position the preamps OUTPUT to the recorder shouldn´t differ much from the one with the bbox.

This is true... 11 o'clock is unity and is only functioning as a battery box at that setting.

Depends on the type of music for me.  Bluegrass shows I have been to, I need all of the +20db of gain.  Other louder shows I have engaged the 4.7K mod and only used the dial on about 1:00.  Just keep an eye on your levels and don't push them too much.  I try to peak around -6db when recording in 24 bit.

Same with me...quieter shows I use the whole 20, while most louder shows I rarely go above 2 O'clock.
