Batt Pack or No?
« on: October 06, 2004, 04:15:35 PM »
Hey all!

Newbie here with a question or two.

Starting out with a Sharp MT 15 and SP-CMC2 Cardoids. Going to my local converted movie theatre/bar to see a show (rock) and wondered if these mics will need a batt pack or not. Any suggestions? Folks at Minidisco where I bought the mics said no but seems to me I've heard otherwise elsewhere.

What about level settings? -4db from max sound right?

I plan on just wearing a ball hat and clipping these near my ears. Or if the band will allow I'll rig a boom mic. That way I can play with things in the open and not be too concerned about being in stealth mode. I really want to try the hat trick to see if I can stay still that long for those times when I'll have to be in stealth. I also want to see how much conversation comes thru. I'm a hyper A type personality that usually can't stay still or keep quiet so it should be interesting.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mark

shirt collar is better than hat imho. At least you can move your head around.

You'll get better sound with a batt box no matter how loud a show is.
