Title: USB (or firewire) D>A
Post by: tmwsiy on March 01, 2009, 08:53:23 PM
Hey folks,

I have been surfing around looking for a quality USB or firewire D>A interface to be used as an audio source to stereo for the least amount of $$$. I have come across a few that I think might fit the bill. I have an old JVC receiver (decent specs, to be upgraded next) and some jbl studio monitors to place in front of this device.

The contestants are:

1) HagUsb - http://www.hagtech.com/hagusb.html
2) TrendsAudio UD-10.1   http://www.trendsaudio.com/Products.htm
3) M-Audio Transit http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit.html
4) Phonics DigiTrack http://djshopping.com/digitrack.html
5) Audiophile fubar2 http://www.audiophileproducts.com/fubar2

There seem to be a lot of units in my price range (<$200 USD). Anyone have any favorites I have not listed?

TIA

don't forget that you can get a very inexpensive usb>coax converter, so that you can use any DAC. Some very good DACs from a few years ago come up for sale all the time on Audiogon.com for ~$200.
