Title: Charging RC battery packs
Post by: yousef on December 04, 2008, 05:46:33 PM
I have (thanks to a generous TS member) a 1600mA 9.6v battery pack and also a 1000mA one.

My charger has a label on it stating "9.6v - 100mA 1Va".

So how do I work out how long to charge the packs for without risking overcharging them? Is it capacity divided by charger rating? i.e. 16 hours for the 1600mA one? That sounds like a long time...

I wonder if the right answer might be 'buy a better charger'.

That emans that it charges the batts at 100mah/per hour, and at 1v while its charging! Yep, 16 or 17 hrs for the 1600mah one, and 10-11 hrs on the 1000mah one ;)
