New 1.5 OS for the Korg MR-1 and MR-1000
« on: May 04, 2007, 08:20:51 AM »
Hello tapers:

We've just posted the promised 1.5 OS for the MR recorders. Main features include:

MR-1
 - MP3 recording/playback
 - ability to jump from the main record screen to the rec level adjust page
 - Stereo Link mode for setting the level of both channels at the same time

MR-1000
 - MP3 playback

Both product have received a number of other useful operational enhancements.

there is a PDF in the zip

MP3 file playback added. (Sampling frequency 44.1kHz or 48kHz / Bit rate 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80,
96, 112, 128, 160, 192, 224, 256, 320kbps)
During playback and stop, pressing P dial jumps the unit to the current folder or play list. You can
select files quickly with this. You can move to any directory inside the library during playback.
Alphabet sort display added to the library display.
In the library selection screen, long file names can be displayed in scroll.
Quick play function for starting playback instantaneously.
 Mark jump function added.
2sec is added as the backlight lighting time option to reduce the battery consumption.
" " added to meter peak hold setting. (<- If you see " " as funny characters, it is meaning a
infinite mark.)
After being in "REC PAUSE" for a while, the MR sometimes displayed "Disk Too Busy" during
recording. This has been fixed.
The processor system has been refined to overall minimize the message "Disk Too Busy".
A few low-level bugs are fixed.

I did come across one odd behavior with the new 1.5 firmware in my MR-1.

The first time I tried to use the MR-1 Library menu to change the name of my project file. I changed the name from "WSD_0018.WSD" to "PlaygroundNoct" and after that the Library menu options do not appear for any tracks. The screen is blank except the scroll bars and the title bar, and it looks as if all the UI text is being displayed in the single character in the upper right corner. After I powered down and restarted the Library menu now works, and I haven't been able to reproduce it.

Also the new AudioGate still doesn't recognize project audio markers (created by pressing record on the MR-1 while playing back a recording on the MR-1). It seems like an obvious thing for AudioGate to be able to read MR-1 project information.

It appears that Audiogate software won't install in Windows Vista.  Anyone else having this trouble?
Occasionally....music mics record
