Where do you recharge your SLAs while at a festival? If you recharge anything off your car battery, doesn't that drain it and it makes it hard to start your car when you wanna leave? Or do you just got a boost from someone?

Depends on the festival. Sometimes I RV it, so I charge in the RV. At GOTV there is power in the section. At Berkfest there is power in the lodges.

If you run off your car a little you won't kill it. The JB3 would not do it.

True, the jb3 charges quick, but doing an SLA would not be a good idea most likely.

I've always had success gaining access to vendor's AC for battery charging - usually just offer 'em a couple recordings of their favorite sets and they're fired up to let me charge.  And then they usually don't email me about the sets.

The only other possible issue might be that the JB3 was kept in a tight pocket in a bag throughout the 10 hour test, and I felt it was getting warm at times but didn't think to take it out and leave it in the open... do you guys always give your JB3 tons of air when taping? Maybe that was the problem...

I have had my jb3 die on me because it overheated. You should let it get some air if you can, that may be your problem.  If you are shutting down between sets you shouldn't have any problems though.  With 2@3000 mah rc bats I think the best I ever got was about 9 hrs, so your 10 isn't out of line.  Some mics draw more juice than others as well.

I do think taping is the reality of the business..it is also an impetus for artists to create studio CDs that are ART, not just another recording...    Fareed Haque  2-4-2005

a 12v sla + 12v adapter can yield great results :)

id imagine that my 12v 12 amp battery would power the jb3 for around 60+ hrs, easily 2 jb3 HD's full ;)

it only starts up at 1 amp, and drops to a really low 150-500mah for recording, digi in at least

I'm going to use one of those walmart DC-DC adapters, which caymanreview kindly picked up for me... and i'll just connect that plus the UA-5 directly to the SLA in parallel? Is that the best way to do it in order to maximize battery life?
