Title: Western Digital Live
Post by: bluewingolive on March 16, 2012, 02:44:04 PM
I was hoping someone here could answer a question about the WD Live.  I'm looking to play movies on my TV...home movies...kids and such, that are I take with a digital camera.  I still use DVR tapes, but I'm looking to move forward with some new gear.

My question is: Can I use the USB 2.0 ports on the WD Live to hookup an external hard drive (where the movies will reside) and view them via the WD Live and onto the TV?  It does mention using thumb drives for photos...but not exactly what I propose here.  Obviously, I know, you can hook your camera up to your TV and view...but transfer/archive and delete what's on the camera as a routine.

Or...if anyone has another device or way; please feel free to share.

yes, you can plug any usb storage device into the WD Live and play movies, photos, music, etc.  i had the WD Live TV plus for a while but switched to a boxee box since the WD box wouldn't play 24 bit FLAC or .mkv.  ymmv.
