I'm not sure when this change happened, but I just discovered that all of my FLAC files on Dropbox will now play streaming! Previously, you had to download FLACs to play offline.
EDIT: Looks like they removed FLAC support. It's an open-source format, so I can't imagine why.

chrome and firefox both support flac now. This link is from last month

Well, this sucks. Now Dropbox has removed FLAC previews - you have to download them to listen. Boo.
