right so if you are getting distortion, static, diginoise you're not going to be able to hear it unless you have a 4 head deck

I think there is some confusion here...
I'm just talkin about running it from the headphone (or line out) of the deck to headphone amp...  no need for a 4 head deck..

these will provide enough isolation to hear at a loud show without any extra gear.

click thru to the "project addendum" and you will see how someone modded them to use the etymotic ear plugs - closest thing to etymotics for $70 less.
