I put in a 8GB SDHC card in my Zoom H2. Upon booting up, it showed almost 12:50:00 as the recording time.
After about 6 hours of recording, the battery died. I put in a fresh set of batteries and the H2 showed more than 6 hours of available recording time. However, it refused to record anything when I pressed the RECORD button, instead displaying the message that the card is full.
Does anybody have any idea why this might have happened? Does it mean that the H2 only fully utilize only a 4GB chip?
The chip I used is a PQI brand chip.

I've been using a Sandisk 8GB Ultra II SDHC for some time now with no issues. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Just guessing here, but perhaps it's related to the manufacturer, and/or the speed of the card?

Was your card on this list:

This may be the solution to your problem:

Since this is their Japanese site, who knows what they really mean by "And needed no free space on SD card in DIVIDE function." Some things may be lost in translation.

No, it wasn't. But one would think that if it worked till 4GB capacity, it would go up to 8GB with no problems. After all, 2GB is the limit for SD and anything larger has to conform to the SDHC standard.

I have upgraded to Version 1.3 and I shall run a test again and post the results here.
Thanks for the tip. :clapping:

Thanks. After upgrading to Version 1.3, the H2 recorded to all 8 GB on both the PQI chip and the A-Data chip.
Thanks a lot. :clapping:

I'm glad it worked out. Both for your sake and mine when I step up to an 8GB card. Right now I'm running 4GB cards with no problems but I know I'll get bigger ones sooner or later.
